CULTURAL HUMILITY AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The Cultural Humility Ambassador Program (CHAP) is an affinity community created to explore the 4 areas of cultural humility: lifelong learning, self-reflection, mutual partnerships, and institutional accountability.

At the heart of cultural humility is a commitment to lifelong learning. CHAP was created to cultivate an ongoing learning community, one that develops beyond the boundaries of the program itself. Ambassadors don't just complete a curriculum; they become part of a network of practitioners who continue to grow together, support one another, and carry the work of cultural humility into their professional and personal spheres long after the cohort ends.

You should apply for CHAP if you...

  • Are curious about cultural humility and want to deepen your practice through intentional, sustained reflection
  • Are ready to engage with vulnerability and authentic self-examination alongside a community of peers
  • Want to build lasting relationships with colleagues committed to equity, inclusion, and justice in speech, language, and hearing sciences
  • Are looking to grow as a leader and see yourself contributing to the field, the profession, or the Task Force beyond your time as an Ambassador
  • Are willing to commit the time and energy needed to fully participate in synchronous sessions, asynchronous learning, and a culminating presentation

The inaugural program started in Fall 2023 and concluded with Ambassador presentations at the NBALSH 46th Annual Convention. We're excited to welcome a new cohort for 2026-2027.

Activities of the ambassador program include a pre-conference learning session, the cultural humility virtual conference, as well as synchronous/asynchronous learning opportunities. The program culminates in a roundtable discussion at the NBASLH annual convention.

Approximately 25 CE hours will be earned by participants.
