NBASLH Scholarships

Widex Audiology Scholarship

The National Black Association for Speech‐Language and Hearing (NBASLH) invites students to submit a research paper to its Widex Scholarship competition. The winner will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship during NBASLH’s Annual Convention in NBASLH’s Annual Convention April 6 - 8, 2017, in Atlanta, Georgia.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The research study must be in the area of Audiology, which may include research related to: hearing screening, communication strategies, auditory and visual speech perception and training, hearing aids, cochlear implants, counseling, tinnitus management or under-represented minorities.  

Proposal Evaluation:

All submissions are peer‐reviewed; acceptance is related to consistency with the following criteria and quality of the submitted materials.

  • Theoretical/scientific rationale, professional relevance  
  • Originality and innovation  
  • Strength of the study design and data analysis  
  • Interpretation and discussion of results  
  • Overall clarity of the proposal

Application submission requirements:  

Applications will be reviewed competitively and selections made by the Awards Committee for the upcoming Annual Convention of the NBASLH.

  • Project Abstract 50 and Summary 1,000 words
  • Curriculum vitae (CV) / resume  
  • Letter of Recommendation from Research Mentor

The student must present a poster of results during the upcoming NBASLH Convention. This poster will be feature during the Highlighted poster session.
