NBASLH Talks: So You Want to Submit? The Peer-Reviewed Process for Research Dissemination
Thursday, October 07, 2021, 7:00 PM EDT
Category: Events

Speaker: Kia Johnson, PhD, CCC-SLP and NBASLH Chair

The concluding step of the research process is the dissemination of findings. Often this occurs through research presentations at professional meetings and conferences and journal publications. Many beginning researchers have an interest in participating in both, but are uncertain of how to navigate the process of getting their research study prepared to submit to a ‘Call for Papers’ for a peer-reviewed conference or journal. This virtual seminar will provide attendees with the fundamentals needed to prepare their completed research study for submission. Content will include how to best match a research study with an appropriate conference, conference topic area, or journal, prepare a proposal or manuscript to meet submission guidelines, and insight into the reviewer process.  Co-authorship, disclosure, and copyright issues will also be discussed.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the importance of making note of the submission guidelines.
  2. List common components needed for a proposal or manuscript submission.
  3. Describe the importance of co-authorship for peer-reviewed presentations and publications.
